As contestants gathered on the sofa during Friday night's instalment of Big Brother, they expected that they'd be saying their goodbyes to Cristian, Eileen, Jade, Joel or Nick.
However, thanks to a cunning twist, those not nominated were the ones who were unwittingly facing the public vote - with Sarah, Kieran, Harriet, Amy and Sally being the unexpected causalities.
Twins Amy and Sally were first to go and, as it was announced that they were out of the house, a startled Amy hugged her equally flabbergasted housemates as she said: 'I really am in shock.'

Evicted: Twins Amy and Sally were the first ones to be evicted in a shock eviction twist on Friday night's instalment of Channel 5's Big Brother
Announcer Marcus Bentley was forced to repeatedly order the blonde beauties to exit the house as they bid a extended farewell.
They left the house to a mixed reception from the outdoor crowd as they were met by presenter Emma Willis for their exit interview.
Holding hands as they chatted with the host about their time in the house, Amy admitted: 'As soon as they said [the vote] was reversed, I said, "We're going!"
Mixed reception: The blonde beauties left the house to a mixture of boos and cheers
Big upset: They told host Emma Willis that they were 'gutted' to have lost their place in the house
Predicted: Amy and Sally said that they knew they were out once they learned of the night's big twist
'If we knew we were going, we would have prepared ourselves to leave the house, because there were some great people in there.'
Sally explained of their confidence in being given the boot: 'I just feel like the people who were left were all great characters.'
As hecklers in the crowd repeatedly chanted that they were 'boring', they also spoke about their recently-settled feud with Jade.
Booted: Kieran and Harriet discovered that they were the next casualties as they played a Timebomb game
Daddy: Former basketball player Kieran proved popular among his housemates, thanks to his fatherly role
Shocked: Harriet was visibly shocked and shaken as she and Kieran were greeted by Emma
'We didn't spend a lot of time talking to each other,' said Amy, as her sister nodded in agreement. 'We got along with Nick and we just felt like she was manipulating him to stay in longer.'
The focus later returned to the remaining housemates, and it was revealed that the nominees would be 'going for a ride' in the garden, from which not all of them would return.
Kieran, Chloe, Danny, Harriet and Sarah made their way to the garden, wh! ere they were informed that they'd each be getting into a time machine,! which would decide their fate.
Change of fortunes: Just weeks earlier, Harriet had been voted one of the most popular in the house
Dressed, not impressed: Harriet joked about being replaced b! y somebody 'dressed in a f***ing Dorothy outfit'
Potty mouth: As she sat down for her interview with Emma, a startled Harriet couldn't stop swearing
First up was Harriet, who sat nervously as she was spun around in the chair, before the glittering silver door closed, later opening to reveal that she had been replaced by new housemate Harry Amelia.
Danny was next in the chair, hugging Sarah before he, too, was spun around. Following a tense few seconds, the doors opened to reveal that he was safe as! he exclaimed: 'Get in!'
! However, his pal Kieran didn't enjoy the same fate, as he found himself replaced by Irish stripper and chemistry student Marc.
Booted! After the dust appeared to settle following a tense few moments, Sarah discovered! she was next out
Mates in the house: She also said that she liked everybody in the house, though she felt Joel was 'awkward'
Quick recovery: Sarah initially sat in stunned silence when ! she realised that she was next out of the house
As she sat alongside Kieran for her exit interview, a crying Harriet yelled to Emma: 'Some f***er's took my place - and she's dressed in a f***ing Dorothy outfit, for f***'s sake!'
Her chat with Emma continued in much the expletive-laden vein, during which Harriet admitted for her possible reasons for being voted out: 'I'm a f***ing nightmare [to live with].'
She got teary-eyed once again as expressed her gratitude for the experience, saying: 'I'm humbled for the experience... I remember last February I was sitting in the crowd looking at [Emma]... Even though it's three weeks, it's been the best three weeks of my life.'
Better off out of it: As she made her way out, Sarah told Emma that she found the house to be 'ruthless'
Sadness: The brunette sa! id that she felt particularly sad for Danny, who was left without many of his friends
Casual: She emerged from the house in a pink sweater, which she teamed with cropped skinny jeans
For his part, Kieran appeared calm as he chatted with Emma, telling her: 'You guys are really twisted, aren't you?'
The stunning brunette host responded: 'Well, we had to do something, because you guys get along really well.'
He philosophically continued: 'Everyone goes at some! time, and unfortunately it's me and Harriet sitting here... I'm not going to lie, I was shocked. But it s part of the process of what happens.'
Bad tidings: New recruit Sam was the one who informed Sarah she'd be out as she sat in the Diary Room
In a spin: Harriet was the first one to enter the time machine, but was replaced by dominatrix Harry Amelia
On his role as a father figure and mediator in the house, he said: 'I was the second oldest in there and things were starting to happen in there that were starting to irritate people.'
Last out was Sarah, who learned that she was leaving the house when Welsh personal trainer Sam was beamed from the Diary Room as she opened an envelope to reveal she was evicted.
After sitting in sile! nt shock, Sarah left the house and later told Emma: 'That place is ruthless, it's not right... Danny's devastated. He's lost his little crew in one night.
Sticking around: Danny was the only one of the contestants to sit in the chair and not eventually be replaced
Off: Kieran was the last one to go into the time machine, and was replaced by stripper and student Marc
While she deemed Joel 'awkward' and admitted she didn't 'really get' Eileen's place in the house, she adde of the housemates: 'We could all see eye to eye... There really was no issue.'
However, Emma soon steered her line of questioning to Danny, with whom Sarah had been seen enjoying affectionate hugs during her brief time in the house.
Insisting 'nothing' was going on be! tween them, Sarah explained: 'It was awkward, because we were the only two single people where people thought, "Oh, they could get together."'
He's back! Former housemate Simon, who was evicted on launch night, was seen returning to the house
She added: 'He's not my type... He's such a sweet, kind, nice guy, but I don't think eithe! r of us see each other in that way. We like each other as friends.'
And, when it seemed as though the show was out of surprises, Simon - the very first casualty of the current series, who was evicted on opening night - was placed back inside the house.
He continuously yelled his 'showbiz' catchphrase as he greeted his housemates, who displayed a mixture of shock and elation at his return.
Special request: Sarah asked Emma not to question her about the nature of her relationship with Danny
Denied: But Emma defied her wishes and got her to address what was perceived to be a budding romance
Just good friends: Sarah insisted that she wasn't attracted to Danny and that they were just close pals
