The Irish group originally announced their plans to take up a week-long residency on the show last November but were forced to cancel after frontman Bono injured his arm in a cycle accident.

U2's return to The Tonight Show was confirmed on the show's Twitter page last night.
"You heard that right," the update read. "U2 will be back on the show next Friday!"

The band's appearance on the show comes as preparations for their upcoming 'iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour' begin.
After kicking off in Vancouver, Canada on May 14, the tour will then see the band travel across America and Europe before coming to London later this year for six dates in October and November.
Earlier this year, Bono revealed that his accident may have left him "unable to play the guitar".
