Parton herself will executive produce the story of her upbringing, which will use her music but won't be a musical. She'll work with her production partner Sam Haskell of Magnolia Hill Entertainment and Warner Bros Television.

Coat of Many Colors is about a coat that the 69-year-old's mother made her out of rags, like the biblical tale of Joseph and the Coat of Many Colours. But Parton's excitement soon turns, as classmates quickly ridicule her choice of clothing.

Years later, and that very coat is on display in Parton's Chasing Rainbows Museum at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN.
