Hollyoaks beat #MTVStars of 2014, Ex on the Beach, Feeling Nuts, Fortitude and Strictly Come Dancing to the Best Social Media and Digital Marketing Campaign award.
One judge described the move as "a really innovative use of a new platform to keep a format relevant to its audience", while another added: "It's taking youth TV and moving it across a digital platform."
"We chose because we know that's where our E4 audience are. But we also wanted to have a genuine purpose for being there," producers Lime Pictures said.
Hollyoaks The Game was also nominated in the Best Game category, but lost out to Reverse the Odds for Stand Up To Cancer.
Hollyoaks broadcaster E4 went on to win the Best Entertainment Channel and Channel of the Year awards at the event.
